ePropulsion Powers RS Marine's Cheetah R630 - Debut at RYA Dinghy Show

22 February 2024

ePropulsion is thrilled to announce its partnership with RS Marine Group, providing the pioneering X Series electric outboards to propel the groundbreaking Cheetah R630, a cutting-edge EV-ready RIB.

This exciting collaboration will be in the spotlight at the ePropulsion at the RYA Dinghy Show 2024: Innovation Meets Sailing Enthusiasts, set to take place at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre in the UK. Mark your calendars for the 24th and 25th of February 2024, where the Cheetah R630 will make its much-anticipated debut.

The Cheetah R630, measuring an impressive 6.3 metres, will be equipped with ePropulsion's innovative X Series electric outboards. Customers can choose between the X20 and X40 models, offering robust power outputs of 20kW and 40kW, respectively.

Designed in concert with RS Electric Boats, the Cheetah R630 boasts a unique cathedral hull design. This innovative feature ensures the vessel displaces less water and achieves planing at lower speeds compared to conventional RIBs of similar size, significantly enhancing efficiency. Additionally, the R630 is outfitted with substantial battery packs, available in 22kWh or 43kWh options, guaranteeing extended range for diverse aquatic adventures.

Jon Partridge, CEO of RS Marine Group, expresses his enthusiasm: “We are committed to leading the charge in offering EV-ready marine craft. The industry is undoubtedly recognising the need for significant change, and we are thrilled to have ePropulsion as our power partner.”

Reflecting on the partnership's origins, Partridge adds, “Our journey began with the RS21, which incorporates a built-in 1kw ePropulsion unit. This initial collaboration laid the groundwork for RS Electric Boats.”

Steve Bruce, ePropulsion's Global OEM Director, comments: “We are honoured that RS Marine Group has selected our X-Series Outboard Motors for the innovative Cheetah R630. Our X Series motors symbolise our dedication to pushing the boundaries in electric marine propulsion technology."

Bruce elaborates on the partnership's scope: “Our collaboration goes beyond supplying state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly motors. We are also tailoring a bespoke battery specifically for the R630 hull. This synergy positions the R630 as a beacon of sustainable boating, redefining what's possible in terms of efficiency and performance in the sector.”

“Test runs of the X40 have shown exceptional results, perfectly aligning with the R630's innovative design. This harmonious integration between the motors and the vessel highlights exceptional operational qualities, solidifying the R630's status as a leader in its category,” Bruce concludes.

“We eagerly anticipate welcoming guests at the launch event. It's a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Cheetah R630, a remarkable embodiment of efficiency, innovation, and performance,” Partridge concludes, inviting visitors to experience this milestone in sustainable marine technology.
